Please be aware most of these components will be pre assembled.

Additional tools and supplies that are recommended for installation.

- drill

- M5 Tap and drill set

- M4 tap and drill set

-10mm or 3/8 drill bit

-1/2 drill bit
- Wire strippers and cutters.
- Ferrule Crimpers (optional)

- Adjustable wrench or 14 mm wrench

-3mm and 4 mm Allen Key

- #2 Philips screwdriver

- PH00 precision Philips screwdriver.

-SL 1.5 precision slot screwdriver.

- Ferrule connectors (optional)

- Teflon tape
- sharpie on other marking tool.

To perform the installation, a mounting location will need to be found. The recommended mounting location is at the rear of the machine bed (on the unmachined portion of the Black PVC). Please note it is recommended that the BY-90 tool setter will need to be mounted to the pneumatic cylinder mounting bracket, the mounting bracket attached to the end of the pneumatic cylinders arm ( the black colored end) and the body of the pneumatic cylinder mounted to the riser mount.

When the system is together, power on the machine and jog the machine as far on the Y axis is capable. Move the machine forward 1/4 inch, followed by moving your X axis to the right 7 inches and lowering the Z axis down until it will roughly be 1/4 inch over the top of the calibrator.

At this point, extend the pneumatic cylinder by pulling it forward by hand and place the center of the calibrator under the center of the spindle in the Z axis and ensure the riser block is placed on the rear of the machine as parallel to the Y axis as possible.

The next step will be to mark the four bolt holes for mounting the riser block to the machine black PVC bed by using the M5 tap drill. Drill through the machine bed and and then tap the holes using the M5 tap.

At this time the riser block can be installed onto your machine by using the 4 provided M5 bolts into the holes that where tapped from the steps above.

Once the assembly is attached to the machine, the pneumatic lines as well as the tool setter electrical lines must be run through the machine bed.

From here remove the bolts from the rear panel on the machine frame and slide the panel rearward. You will have to remove the hose clamps on your vacuum gauges to remove the panel as well. (as shown below)

While the rear panel is open, feed the BY-90 tool setter wires into the machine through the original location and connect the wires as they where installed prior using the ph00 or SL1.5 screw driver.

Find a convenient mounting location for the pneumatic solenoid (under the machine) as described in the picture bellow and attach it using 2 of the long M4 bolts provided. it is recommended to mark and drill holes in the rear leg of the machine using an M4 drill and tap set.

Drill holes in the machine bed near the flow control valves on the pneumatic cylinder as described in the image below and using a 10mm or 3/8" drill bit.

Measure and cut the 8 mm air line to connect from the flow control valves to the output side of the pneumatic solenoid mounted inside the machine in the previous step.

Run the electrical wire from the electrical connectors at the solenoid to the back of plug labeled 2 and open the plug connector.

Inside the plug connector attach the brown wire to 18 and the blue wire to 19. If 18 and 19 are unavailable in the machine, find two other slots and note which color wire goes to which slot.

Do your best to follow the wiring along side the other wires under your machine and use a wire fish to feed the wire through the ambilocal wire hose.

Drill a 1/2 inch hole and install a wire saver in the rear panel cut. Feed the remainder of the air hose from the single side of the pneumatic solenoid through the wire saver and re attach the rear panel.

Place the air regulator on the rear of the machine and mark the four bolt holes for mounting. Use the M5 drill and tap set on these marks and fasten the air regulator, Lastly connect the air hose from the air solenoid to the air regulator. See image below for reference.

This should conclude the machine side of the install.

Proceed to the electrical cabinet and start with removing plug 2 and connect a red wire to pin 18 and a black wire to pin 19.

Trace the wire from pin 19 to your -24 Volt distribution block as pictured below. Follow this by running your red wire through the cable tracks next to the power distribution blocks and install the blue finder relay. Do not install the red wire into the finder relay at this time., but note that the wire will be going into the port labeled NO. With another length of red wire connect a wire from the +24 V distribution block to the port in the finder relay marked COM, at this time the red wire from pin 19 can be installed into the NO port. ( it is recommended to cut the wire after it has been ran through the cable tracks to make sure you have the correct lengths.)

Last step will be to connect a black wire from the MASSO controller ground port (the black connectors on the Masso board) to the A2 label on the blue coloured Finder relay. The last wire will be a RED wire which will be connected to MASSO output 3 on the MASSO board that will connect to the A1 port on the finder relay.

This will conclude the installation instructions for the calibrator.

To set up the new feature in the MASSO controller you will need to take a backup of your current settings.

It is also recommended to go through each of your axis, and spindle settings and take pictures to confirm settings with after.

You will then power your machine on while repeatedly tapping on the screen in order to upload the new software version provided by CanCam and proceed with the instructions in the attached video:
