To replace your laser tube you will have to follow the instructions bellow.
Note: please ensure your machine is unplugged or disconnected from main power supply.
1. Drain any water that may be in the system. ( note: the drain is typically located on the rear lower section of the machine.)
2. Locate the two water hoses connected to the laser tube.
3. Fold over the water lines onto themselves and with zip ties keep the lines pinched. ( this helps prevent any left over water from spilling into your machine.
4. remove the water lines.
5. locate laser anode and cathode. ( note: the anode will be the red wire going under the large red cap located on the left hand side of your machine when facing the tube from the rear and the cathode will be the black wire coming off the tube on the right hand side of the machine. see figure bellow for more detail.)
6. remove the cap and electrical tape securing the anode and cathode wires too the laser tube.
7. remove the anode and cathode wires. ( note: some models have a screw connecting the anode and cathode others may have a fixed connection which will require you to cut the cathode wire. ANODE WIRES DO NOT NEED TO BE CUT.
8. if your anode wire has a hard wire trace the red line back to a white joint which will allow you to disconnect the anode without cutting the wire. (PLEASE NOTE: inspect your new laser tube before tracing your wires as you may have to cut them both as the new tube may come with screw on connections rather than the hardwire.)
9. next remove the four screws holding the top brackets over your laser tube. ( please see picture below for location clarification.)
10. once the bolts and top bracket is removed you can extract the old laser tube. ( NOTE: it is recommended you measure the distance from the laser tube cathode face to the face of the mirror to align the new tube in the same position. Also take note of the orientation of the water inlet and outlet as the new tube will have to be install in the same orientation.)
11. install the new laser tube and align it from the front and same rotational position for the water inlet and outlet.
12. install the brackets and re-secure the bolts. (NOTE: put light pressure down onto the bracket while tightening the bolts to ensure your laser tube is secure in the holder.
13. re install the new anode and cathode wires. (PLEASE NOTE: if you have cut your cathode wire you can reconnect it by either solder or a butt connector. We recommend the use of heat shrink and solder to create the best joint. If you have screw connectors strip the wires back and wrap them around the screws before screwing them down.
14. re connect your Anode wire in the same way you removed it. ( PLEASE NOTE: if you had a hardwired anode and your new laser tube uses the screw connections strip the wire back ensure you do not cut through any of the wires. wrap the wires around the screw and install the screw into the anode. )
15. wrap both the end of the anode and cathode around the wire with the use of electrical tape. this helps prevent arcing and damage to the laser tube.
16. Install the red cover over the anode and connect your water lines.
17. refill your chiller. (PLEASE NOTE: we recommend you use deionized or distilled water for your machine. you may mix it with specific forms of anti freeze if your machine is at risk of freezing however we highly recommend keeping the laser in a warm constantly heated area.
18. re install your power plugs and test your laser. (Note: Your machine may need beam alignment done as well due to the differences in manufacturing of the laser tube. if this is the case please contact us and we will provide you with the Laser alignment instructions.
