MIRA - my laser tube does not fire

Modified on Tue, 25 Jun at 11:10 AM

We need to check a couple things to determine what could be the cause of your laser tube not firing.
IF SENDING ME VIDEO(S) TO ANY OF THE BELOW ITEMS, MAKE SURE THE VIDEO(S) ARE UNDER 20MB each.

1. Please visually look over your tube for any cracks or damages.

2. WITH POWER OFF TO THE MACHINE FOR ATLEAST 15 MINUTES AND THE LASER UNPLUGGED FROM THE WALL, please check (inside the left side of your machine) that this cable connector is still screwed together properly (white barrel connector):

3. WITH POWER OFF TO THE MACHINE FOR ATLEAST 15 MINUTES AND THE LASER UNPLUGGED FROM THE WALL, please take the red cap end off the left side of your laser tube and send me a picture. Make sure the red wire is situated properly and not loose and that the black electrical tape is intact:

4. WITH POWER OFF TO THE MACHINE FOR ATLEAST 15 MINUTES AND THE LASER UNPLUGGED FROM THE WALL, please check the right side of the laser tube and make sure that the white wire connected to the laser tube is not loose and that the black electrical tape is intact. Please send me a picture of this:

5. WITH POWER OFF TO THE MACHINE FOR ATLEAST 15 MINUTES AND THE LASER UNPLUGGED FROM THE WALL, insure both green coloured connectors are pushed into the laser power supply and that all wires are properly seated and not loose in these connectors:

6. Next, please check the L-0N1 wire to Ruida control board is properly seated in the connector and not loose (this wire is what controls the "pulse" to your laser tube). This board is inside the right panel of your Mira:

7. With power on to the laser, test the laser tube pulse at the mirror #1 housing by putting tape on the housing and doing a quick "pulse" of the laser to make sure it burns a spot on the tape:

8. While running a laser program on your Mira, video this end of your laser tube while it should be pulsing:

9. Put some stacked up painters tape on the mirror 1 housing facing the laser tube. With power OFF to the machine, unplug the H,L,P,G,IN,5V green connector (beside red TEST button) from the black laser tube power supply. Turn power ON to your machine and then press the red TEST button on the black laser tube power supply. This will fire the laser. You should see a burn mark on your stacked tape. If you do, this means both the laser tube and laser tube power supply are still working.

This then means that your water protection circuit is potentially faulty and this is stopping the laser from firing. To work around this, you can go into Lightburn EDIT>MACHINE SETTINGS>VENDOR SETTINGS and disable water protection 1. (laser 1 water protect)

10. Also video the screen on the laser power supply to see if the red coloured digital display changes at all when the laser is pulsed (if the power supply has a digital screen on the top of the unit):
