Lightburn - LAN connection issues

Modified on Tue, 23 Jul at 1:01 PM

The computer /w lightburn must be on the same subnet as the laser ruida controller.
There seems to be a bug/flaw in network implementation in the Ruida controller.  T make is more confusing, this affected only the Ruida UDP protocol and not ICMP ping.

problem scenario:
In our makerspace we have the wirelss clients on one subnet 10.6.11.0/24 and tools such as the laser on a second subnet 10.6.70.0/24.
There is a cisco layer3 switch routing between the two and allowing all traffic freely.
I was able to setup the laser on 10.6.70.77 with a valid gateway of 10.6.70.1  and ping it successfully from a laptop on 10.6.11.128.  (Ruida does not let you set the subnet mask so thats probably part of the problem. )
When lightburn tries to communicate with the laser i see (using wiresharek) the UDP packets go out but the laser never replies successfuly.
If I do a continonus ping form the laptop to the laser, I see that the laser controller actually stops reponding whenever Lightburn tries to commincate.  My guess would be that controller network stack is crashing and resetting .

If i move the laser and the lightburn laptop both onto the same subnet (either one) - success!  Lightburn can move the laser and upload files successfully.

Of course, as i pull the peices of this together I was able to feed google the right search terms and see that someone discussed the same problem in here in the Lightburn forum back in Feb 2023 and actually got an acknolgement from Ruida that is might be fixed in a future release.
