Masso Z axis calibration

Modified on Mon, 01 Feb 2021 at 09:57 AM

To accommodate your spoilboard you will have to follow the steps bellow.

  1. Ensure the tool in the spindle is calibrated off the fixed calibrator on your machine.

  2. on your f3 Jog page move your Z axis close to your material.

  3. when your z axis head is roughly 1/4"  above your material get a scrap piece of paper.

  4. turn your vacuum pump on

  5. using your MPG on the smallest step size ( right dial set to x1) move your machine slowly down one step at a time until the paper gets pinched.

  6. at this time select the z zero button in the top right hand corner of your screen. ( this will save a number into your f4 page in whatever workplace you are using. (G54) )

Please note if your machine has a removable or movable probe please follow the instructions bellow instead.

  1. ensure the tool in the spindle is calibrated off the fixed calibrator on your machine.
  2. on your f3 jog page move your spindle over your spoil board or work material ( depending on if you are using machine bed or Material surface for your z height in your CAM software ie V carve)
  3. to the right of your Z axis controls on your F3 jog page you will see an icon. this is your probing Icon select this and a pop up window will appear.
  4. turn on your vacuum pump if you are using one.
  5. to set your z axis press the center dot in the square of 9 blocks. this will begin to lower your z axis. ensure your calibrator is under the tool.
  6. once this process has been completed this will save a number into your f4 page in whatever workplace you are using. (G54)

To accommodate for your material thickness you will need to measure the piece you are trying to cut and input this into your Cam software and ensure that machine bed is selected as your Z axis datum point.

You can also calibrate to your material surface which then the value of your material isn't as necessary though this is a longer process if you do not have the secondary removable probe.
