Roller Rotary Setup

Modified on Tue, 03 Jan 2023 at 09:54 AM

Here is the info for the rotary:

On your machine in the right-hand side lower panel, you will see a driver for the Y-motor. This driver has a series of switches pictured below.

The rotary motor takes over for the Y-axis but needs lower power. To adjust this we will turn switch 3 to "ON" as stated on the blue DIP switch, as pictured below. NOTE: Turn this switch back when not using the rotary or you can risk DAMAGE of your Y-axis motor.

Next on Lightburn, you will want to lower the acceleration of your machine so that the Rollers don't throw your piece off of the rotary. To do this we will have to enter the machine settings menu pictured below

The in that menu you will want to change the parameters below.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

NOTE: It is recommended to return these settings to normal when the rotary is removed as it will significantly reduce your engrave speed and can change the quality of your engravings.

Next I'm going to get you to enable the Main screen switch for the rotary.
Go into the settings menu that is shown below.

Turn on the Show rotary enable on the main screen option seen below

Now you will have an enable rotary option located below your pause and play controls.

Next go into the rotary setup menu

Then choose the Roller rotary option and fill in the following settings

Roller rotary for MIRA:
Steps per rotation 14585.7 Roller Diameter 38mm

Then whenever you are using your rotary ensure the enable rotary switch is on and turn it off whenever you disconnect it.

Recently our rotary supplier has been changed so the motor steps have been off occasionally. If you noticed the rotary is engraving extra-wide send me an email and I'll reach out to our motor supplier and get a fix for you.

****IF YOUR MIRA HAS THE DUAL X/Y DRIVER (2 DRIVES COMBINED INTO 1) YOU DO NOT NEED TO ADJUST THE LITTLE WHITE DIP SWITCHES ON THE DRIVE. USE 12,800 for "steps per rotation".

To know if you have the DUAL X/Y driver, when you open up the right side of your machine, you will only see 2 black narrow boxes (and not 3)
